Botinec, in the southern part of Zagreb, the capital of the Republic of Croatia. It is an elementary school for students aged 6 to 15. We have a total of 467 students and 40 teachers.
Botinec is a quiet suburban neighbourhood founded in 1960, and most people there live in family houses, far away from the noise of the city.
Our school has been part of the Eco-schools’ programme for ten years, and this year we are going to receive a Gold Certificate for promoting education for environmental sustainability. For many years we have had a zero-tolerance policy and organized several projects which dealt with non-violent ways of resolving conflict situations. The school also offers various extracurricular activities such as robotics, model-making, recording and editing videos and films, digital photography and different sports activities.
The city authorities have recognized our effort to improve education quality and our school was awarded the Medal of the City of Zagreb in 2013, an award given by Zagreb City Council to those who excel in their work.
Teachers are organized in several teams within which they work with students. The different projects we have are a radio team, websites team, school plays team, aesthetic design team, quality improvement team and school magazine.
